Kverneland Enduro Pro Stubble Cultivator Offers Flexibility for Seedbeds

While most seedbeds are ploughed by their Kverneland plough at MP Abbiss’ Pickthorn Farm, near Bridgnorth, UK, the farm recently invested in a 3m Kverneland Enduro Pro Stubble Cultivator.

The new Kverneland Enduro Pro stubble cultivator provides additional flexibility and helps reduce their crop establishment costs.

“Our five-furrow Kverneland plough does a great job but having a rugged Kverneland Enduro Pro stubble cultivator that can work from 2 to 6 inches deep has brought flexibility to our processes,” explains Russell Abbiss. “We have a few steep banks, and if we’re applying slurry onto maize stubbles, for example, the ability to incorporate liquid quickly and easily into the top six inches means we can avoid run-off and maximize nutrient use.”

The 400-acre family farm runs a 300-cow dairy herd averaging 10,500 litres, alongside 180 acres of maize and 80 acres of cereals. The soil types range from medium to heavy loams over clay, and the arrival of the Kverneland Enduro Pro stubble cultivator, along with the Kverneland Seeder for establishing Westerwold ryegrass short-term leys, has helped to lower crop establishment costs.

“The Kverneland Enduro Pro offers a flexible, one-pass approach when establishing grass leys at a shallow depth,” he says. “The rear levelling tines and packer roller provide the high-quality finish we need, and with standard 50mm Kverneland knock-on plough points, plus the option of wider Kverneland wing shares for greater soil movement, we now have a highly flexible solution.”

Equipped with 10 Kverneland Tri-flex tines, the fully mounted Kverneland Enduro Pro stubble cultivator is operated at 10-12 kph with the farm’s MF 7S.180 tractor.

“We’ve got a few stones around the place, so having auto-reset legs on the Kverneland Enduro Pro cultivator has been a huge benefit,” adds Russell. “Overall, the Kverneland Enduro Pro is a very useful piece of equipment and a viable alternative to our Kverneland plough.”
